How the LET is scored

PRC’s 75% weighted composite and 50% subtest floor, with a worked example. The number LETReviewer shows is a Readiness Score, not a pass probability.

Two conditions, both required

To pass the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers you need a weighted composite of at least 75% and no subtest below 50%. Missing either condition fails the exam. A 90% on Professional Education does not rescue a 48% on General Education.

LETReviewer grades subtest mocks and full-day mocks with the same rule. We never report a “chance of passing.” The product number is a Readiness Score from your own responses.

Weights depend on your track

Elementary (BEEd, no specialization): General Education is 40% of the composite and Professional Education is 60%. Two subtests, 300 items, typically one day.

Elementary with specialization or Secondary (BSEd): General Education 20%, Professional Education 40%, Specialization 40%. Three subtests, 450 items. On LETReviewer, Spec practice stays locked while majorship banks grow. Timed majorship exams use published items — live published counts may still appear on coverage pages.

Worked example (BEEd)

Suppose you score 80% on Gen Ed and 70% on Prof Ed. Composite = 0.80 × 0.40 + 0.70 × 0.60 = 0.32 + 0.42 = 0.74, or 74%. Both subtests are above 50%, but the composite is under 75% — fail. You needed one more weighted point.

If instead you score 82% and 48%, the composite can look close to 75% while the floor fails. That is why LETReviewer surfaces the floor on every mock analysis, not only the headline percent.

What “delta points” means on a mock

On a mock or full-day attempt we also show how many additional correct items would have crossed 75% on that paper. We do not show that number on a diagnostic — a 30-item read is too small to talk in item-delta terms. The diagnostic uses band copy (“you are X points from On Track”).
